Budding ain’t Blooming!

Bud Not Bloom

Bud Is Not A Bloom!

On my almost daily walk n talk with the Lord I enjoy seeing things in the great outdoors. One of my favorites is a scraggly (my dad would have said–leggy) flowering bushThis bush looks pretty sick most of the year with lots of bare branches and not too many leaves. It often is filled with promising looking buds but mostly they fall to the ground and never become the gorgeous yellow flowers that I so enjoy.

After watching this for the past few years, I think the Lord has showed me something that applies to this bud, but has an important application in our lives too!

This bush is planted in a location that does not suit the way it was created to live. It is not clear to me if it is an issue of light, water, temperature or soil conditions, but clearly something is not conducive to this plant being the beautiful bloomer it could be.  Every so often things line up properly, like this past few weeks here in Orlando with a bit of unseasonably cold weather for several nights. The temperature has not quite dropped into the freezing range, but stayed much cooler than normal with temperatures in the mid and upper 40’s Fahrenheit. It seems that that is one thing that makes this sleeping beauty come to life.

What is it that makes this bush suddenly bloom? Perhaps it is the temperature, but the point is that things had to be right for this bush to do what God designed it to do…to blossom the most awesome yellow blossoms I have ever seen.

Awesome Blossom

Awesome Blossom!

So it is for us. When we find the place that God has prepared for us, we go from budding to blooming! When we are in God’s place, things line up and we can begin to operate in the gifts and abilities that He uniquely created and placed within us. In my experience, that is one of the most satisfying and fulfilling things one can experience.

Want to explore how you might find that place? That is what I do… helping you find the job God wants you to fill!

Blessings in your journey!
