Here’s an area we seldom would think of as a difficult transition. That is a big mistake. Like most change, it pays to know where you want to go and what steps are necessary to arrive fully equipped and prepared. More often than not, associate pastors stay busy with the ministry they are doing, and don’t think about how to prepare for becoming a senior or lead pastor. When the time comes, it feels like you have to do everything at once.
Jay Thomas, Lead Pastor at Chapel Hill Bible Church, wrote an excellent piece on his experience. Great food for thought. Take a look at this link and let us know what you think. Please leave a comment below about your pastoral transition experience. Was your transition a positive one? What would you do differently?
